Christmas Office Party Games

Published by Jennifer

You know, it’s kind of funny but my first ever experience of a Christmas office party was when I was a little girl. It wasn’t even a real Christmas office party but it was the first time I was aware that you could have one. I’m not sure why that is but as I watched a holiday movie with my parents, I had an “ah-ha” moment as everyone gathered for a Christmas party. Sadly, the movie was “Die Hard,” and if you remember, a group of armed men swarmed a Christmas office party.

Hopefully, your Office Christmas party doesn’t go the way of die hard, although I have heard that some party-goers wish for such an ending to their yearly office, if only so they don’t have to deal with festive co-workers.

Okay, maybe I am being a bit of a “scrooge” there, office Christmas parties can be a lot of fun and you get the opportunity to let your hair down at work. You also get to see your co-workers outside of the regular grind and you can learn a lot about the people you work with at an office Christmas party.

Most of the office Christmas parties that my company did were usually done at a restaurant, which cuts down on the number of games and even conversations you have. Everyone is sitting around the table, chatting with the person to their left or right and occasionally chatting with someone across the table. If I was lucky, I would be seated near someone that I knew but more than often, I was stuck sitting beside a spouse of a co-worker who would rant about all the wonderful attributes of said spouse and how they were being ignored. Okay, maybe it was just once but it made me hate office Christmas parties that are at a restaurant.

If you are lucky enough to have an office Christmas party where everyone can mingle and they’re not stuck around a table, then you can have a lot of fun, especially if you play an office Christmas game.

There are many different games that you can play at an office Christmas party and all of them can be fun but for now, let’s just start with a few games to get your office Christmas party started.

Christmas Letters:

This can be a pretty easy game and it can actually be played a number of ways. The first way is to have everyone join into teams where each team must come up with a list of Christmas words starting from A to Z.

he second way is to do this on an individual basis but since we are at an office party, teamwork is probably the best way.

You can mix up the game by having A to Z of Christmas songs, A to Z of Christmas foods, or A to Z of Christmas decorations or you can make it a generic list of Christmas words but the last one is fairly easy to do.

Create a time limit and the team that comes up with the most words in that time wins.

Christmas “Who Am I”:

This can be a lot of fun and is very similar to twenty questions. Write out a list of Christmas characters or even objects and put it into a hat before you have everyone join into groups. Once you have groups, you can have one player from the group pull out the a character or object and then the rest of the group can ask only 20 questions that have yes or no answers to find out what Christmas object or character the player is. If the team has not figured it out by the end of the time limit, usually 2 minutes, then the next team goes. At the end, the team who figured out the most answers wins.

With the right game, any office Christmas party can be a lot of fun.
