Adult Christmas Games

Published by Jennifer

It might be something completely new to me, but I have noticed that over the years there has been a shift from regular adult Christmas parties, you know the ones where everyone stands around, chatting, listening to music and dipping too deeply into the eggnog, and the parties that are happening now. You know, the parties that are filled with great games and lots of laughter and people dipping a little too deeply into the eggnog. Maybe I am growing up or maybe I have grown up to the point where I need to tap into my inner child and have a childlike fun at a party.

It is probably a combination of both and I find that there is nothing wrong with playing a few games at a party. For that reason, I have decided to share some really great ones with you that are sure to get everyone into the holiday cheer.

There was Dasher and Dancer, and Susan and David:

Okay, I don’t think the last two are Santa’s reindeers but this game is a lot of fun and only requires a few things to get it going. These are balloons and pantyhose. With those ingredients, how can anything go wrong?

Well, chances are a lot will go wrong, which is why this game is a lot of fun. But let’s get to playing the game. First, you will need to create teams and it doesn’t matter about the size of the teams, just make sure everyone will have something to do. At this point, you will give each team a pair of pantyhose and a total of eight balloons (make sure they are deflated). The goal of this is for each team to create antlers by stuffing the balloons into the legs of the pantyhose after you say “start.” Teams will need to figure out the best way to get the balloons into the hose and will also need to blow up each of the balloons before they can win.

Once a team has a set of antlers made, they will need to appoint their resident reindeer, cue Susan please, and attach the pantyhose to their reindeer’s head. But the fun doesn’t stop there because your reindeer will need to sing a Christmas carol. Most people tend to sing “Jingle Bells,” but I feel that “Rudolph- the red nosed reindeer,” should be the song of choice since people are creating reindeer antlers. In the end, you can decide on the song and the first group who makes their antlers and sings their song wins.

Dress Me as Santa:

This is a fun game that will have people dressing up again, hmmm…must be a theme here, but this time it will be as Santa. In this game, you will select teams, as you did with the antler game, or if you prefer, you can keep the same teams and have a running total throughout the night.

Once you have the teams, supply them with crepe paper, cotton balls, toilet paper and masking tape. You can also use a variety of other things but make sure nothing is shaped like a piece of clothing. After all the teams have their supplies, you can start the game. The object of this game is for the teams to create a Santa Claus using the materials you have provided. You can keep the game small by having them make Santa’s hat or you can go all out and have a complete Santa costume. Make sure that you set a timer but you will also need to appoint a judge, or judges, for the game. Once the time limit is over, everyone must model their Santa suit (one person on the team will be the model that you made the costume on) and the best costume wins.

When it comes to playing games at an adult party, you can really do anything you would like. Children’s games can be just as enjoyable as games deemed as adult and you only need to make a few changes to have lots of grown up fun with the game.
